MEHRZEEN DEBOO

I started gaining interest in Art from a very young age (approximately 5-6 years), and as such there wasn’t any external factor that led me to love Art. I always knew that I had it in me. When I was around 7, seeing my passion for drawing, arts and craft, my dad signed me up for art classes. In 6 months, I actually got bored of those classes and started trying out different mediums all by myself. I would doodle almost all the time, honestly whatever I’ve learned is through self-learning, practice and hard work; and with a bit of coaching from my Art teachers at school.

When I was younger I always got inspired by Mr. Pablo Picasso, because his art work was very open-minded and abstracted, and it was okay if it wasn’t perfect. In middle school, during history I learned about renaissance art, paintings and sculptures. The most famous renaissance painting is the “Mona Lisa” and “The Last Supper” by Leonardo Da Vinci. The illusion that Da Vinci created truly blew my mind and it is always intriguing to look at.

My art pieces do not always convey a story, but most of my personal work coveys love, friendship and sometimes even fashion. Recently I’ve been inspired by Marvel characters and skulls, etc. Sometimes old-schooled people don’t always like my “love” drawings and call them inappropriate at times but that is quite rare. Usually people my age always love my pieces since they can relate to it, and for the middle-aged people, they too most of the time like my art. My dad is the only one who actually gives me constructive criticism along with some of my other art colleagues.

What started as a simple hobby has now become my passion.  I know that I still have a lot to learn about Art and I hope that someday I can evolve into a true artist.
