Devi Rani Dasgupta


Devi Rani Dasgupta is a young self taught, Indian, Figurative, expressionist artis. Her artworks are inspired by the beauty of famous Folk Art Madhubani paintings. She subtly captures the beauty of  Madhubani folk art and infuses  minimal brush strokes to create her own unique style. 

Devi uses vibrant colors in layers by applying bold strokes and textures in her creations. She uses designs in her composition both in subject and background which gives it a royal appearance and traditional elegance. 

She has done various series on work on subjects like Mother & Child, Radha & Krishna, King & Queen, man & women, animals and more using two dimensional form with flat color application, few shade & light effect with an emphasis of the fine lines. 

Devi has done her seven solo shows, a number of group shows, annual shows, art fairs, art workshops & seminars in India and abroad. She has received several awards and has achieved popularity & appreciation over the past few years. Her artworks are on display in various private and public collections in India & abroad.
